I am the person most business-builders are afraid to prospect. My name is probably on most people’s chicken lists — as it was on my Mercedes-Benz dealer’s for two years. My Arbonne journey just goes to show — never prejudge anyone!
I came to Arbonne at the end of June 2007, when my friend, ERVP Aldis Higgins, rented us a summer home. The previous summer, Aldis had mentioned Arbonne, but I was simply not interested. I had wished her luck and told her I would try the products, but I never did.
Nine months later, when Aldis drove up the driveway in her new Mercedes-Benz, I knew that she had pursued the Arbonne opportunity and that she was on her way to the top. This defi nitely got my attention. However, I had no knowledge of network marketing, absolutely no interest in it, was afraid of what people might think, and, in fact, I thought it was a scam.
My profession for 30 years was as a songwriter, writing for artists such as Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and Cher to name a few. My most recent endeavor was authoring a book, “The World’s Greatest E-mail”, while also training for my pilot’s instrument rating, which had taken me over two years of intense study. I was weeks away from my fi nal fl ight test and I was not about to walk away from this challenge that had cost so much time, money and effort. My whole life had been spent working alone — to the beat of my own drum. That was all about to change.
My husband, entertainer David Cassidy, is the reason I began looking at Arbonne differently. David has terribly sensitive skin that has only worsened with age. No steroid creams or prescription medications had ever helped him. One day he called after performing in California and said that his hands were worse than ever. He had to cancel a “meet and greet” the night before due to the pain and embarrassment he experienced. He sounded desperate as he put down the phone before boarding his plane home.
I immediately called Aldis to see if Arbonne had anything that could help David.
She gave me the Intelligence Skin Conditioning Oil and the Intelligence Hand Cream. In fi ve days, these products had miraculously healed what no physician was able to cure! David has not had an outbreak since and our lives have been forever changed.
As soon as David said, “Sue, this stuff is incredible!” I made a phone call to a friend’s husband, the creator of the fi rst diet drink sent through the mail. He has spent over 38 years in network marketing. I knew that if anyone could tell me about this company he could. He said this to me: “Sue, you have to do this business! An opportunity like this comes once in a lifetime. The only way you can fail is not to do it or quit.”
Well, that was it! After completing the book and my flight training, I began learning the Arbonne business.
In spite of being a hermit, not understanding the compensation plan and being inexperienced in network marketing, there was only one thing I needed to become an RVP — passion! Ignorance on fire! I have it in spades for Arbonne and its products because I have witnessed what they can do with my own eyes.
This has been an incredible journey for me. I had to get completely out of my comfort zone and make my Why really big to get me through the resistance I experienced and still experience at times. In spite of all of my whining and complaining to Aldis, I have succeeded! No one is more surprised than I am. I have met wonderful people and have expanded my world so much since I began doing this. I have reconnected with old friends and made new life-long friends. I am climbing another mountain — this time holding hands with people I love.
One of my resistances was “selling,” but then I realized that I was helping people.
We are all “selling” something — be it a song, or ourselves when we go on a job interview — but in its best form, it becomes sharing — educating people, not exploiting them. That’s when it all turned around for me.
I realize as I write this that my story may be difficult for some of you to relate to.
That is why I hope my EOA will help you get past your fear of approaching people you assume may not be interested in Arbonne. You see, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that if anything happened to David, our lifestyle would take a huge hit. Royalties from music and television are great, but they do not cover everything. At this time in my life, I want an insurance policy that pays out without having to die or get sick fi rst!
I am fortunate. I have lived a life many people only dream of. I do not need to do Arbonne. I want to do Arbonne because I want to help people. And my friend’s husband was right — this is an opportunity of a lifetime. If I had a time machine, I would go back to the ‘50s and tell everyone, “There’s a company you have never heard of called ‘McDonald’s.’ I don’t care if you have to beg, borrow or steal. When you hear about this company, buy it! It will change your life.”
That is what I say about Arbonne. It is the “E ticket” everyone dreams of — the ride of a lifetime to health, wealth and “paying it forward” where the destination is a better world. We are all so privileged to be making a difference with this company, one person at a time.
Now I do Arbonne and still do other things I love, like write songs and books and fly airplanes. I get to spend quality time with my son, Beau and my husband (who will retire one day thanks to me) and I get to help others. Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so!

And, Beau … my miracle baby — you will always be a miracle to me. You are
the greatest gift God could ever have given me. You are a huge part of my Why. I want to set an example for you that you can achieve anything in this life with belief, passion and a strong work ethic.
